Hong Kong Baptist University

Being invited by the Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) Physical Education Department (PE), the Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy Headquarters (established 78 years in Hong Kong) conducted a tai chi course* at the university campus, while twenty-six PE students from the University completed 13 lessons of junior level Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in the first semester of 2014/15.  This series of lessons acted as an official academic module for undergraduate degree programme amongst the PE department’s elective courses towards credit granting. The practical assessment# of the course was held in April and invigilated by Grand Master Eddie, Wu Kwong Yu, whereas theoretical examination will be conducted in May 2015.

Throughout these 13 Tai Chi lessons, under the instruction of Mr Jeff Chui, the second Hong Kong disciple of Grand Master Wu, participants were provided with an orthodox and disciplined foundation to gain the broad contemplation and appreciation for Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan. In turn, this cultivating ground paved the hallway for them to enter the Art world of Wu’s Tai Chi.

Herewith, the Academy would like to express its gratitude to HKBU, one of the eight publicly funded higher educational institutions in Hong Kong, for this meaningful and fruitful consociation, the first of its kind in the University to introduce the Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan and looks forward to the opportunity of future collaboration for the carrying forward of the inherited passion and spirit.
