Steffi Sachsenmaier

After discovering tai chi chuan while living in Paris in 2004, Steffi joined Wu’s Academy in London, Bethnal Green, in 2006 and has trained under Sifu Gary Wragg ever since.

She has taught at the academy (www.wustyle-europe.com) for several years and is a senior instructor, registered by the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain. In 2012 she has been officially certified as a Wu Style Federation instructor. Beyond being part of the committee for the organization of the academy’s yearly international London Competition for Traditional Tai Chi Chuan (www.wustyle-europe.com/competition.html), she holds several responsible roles in the daily running of the academy.

Steffi regularly competes in national as well as international competitions, where she has won several medals both in pushing hands as well as hand and weapon forms categories, such as at the British Open, the London Competition for Traditional Tai Chi Chuan, the European Championships, the Dutch Open, and the International Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan Federation Competition in Singapore.

After becoming a Closed Door member of Sifu Gary Wragg in 2009, she received discipleship through Grandmaster Wu Kwong Yu in Hong Kong in 2012.

Steffi is also a Lecturer in Performing Arts and Middlesex University and makes her own performance work, which is strongly informed by her practice of tai chi chuan.
